How To Automate Your Digital Product Delivery
Posted by James in How To & Tutorials
When you are running your own information marketing business, it is essential to automate any repeatative tasks so you can focus your efforts on things like creating new content, making partnerships, and thinking up new ideas to expand your business.
Although it may seem simple to some, I still meet many clients who are delivering their products by email as their orders come in. I was once in this position too. When I started out selling ebooks on eBay, I didn’t have a clue about automating my business – the closest I came to it was using an autoreply filter in Outlook which was not only unreliable, but also unsecure as someone could easily fake an email to my account if they got hold of my address – and get my product for free.
I’m pleased to say there are now a range of solutions for delivering your product both securely and automatically, and I’ve tried to cover solutions for different budgets below:
Paypal Automated Solution

The most simple method of automating your product delivery is using Paypal. You will need to create a “Buy Now” button from within your Paypal account, and specify a URL (webpage) for your customer to be taken to once they have completed their purchase.
Here are the steps:
1) First you need to create a page which your digital product will be delivered from. On this page you will need a link to your product, and any other information you want to give your customer (you could also consider adding a special offer to this page).
2) Save your page as something which won’t be easily guessed by your visitors e.g. download-p-19273d.html”
3) Add this line to your HTML below your <title> tags:
<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex,nofollow”>
This will stop search engines indexing your page.
4) Upload this page to your site and make a note of the URL (web address)
6) Login To Your Paypal Account
7) Click on Merchant Services on the top menu
8) Click “Website Payments Standard” on the left menu
9) Click “Create a Buy Now Button” – this will take you to the payment button setup page
10) Setup your product name, price and any other options in the first section of this page (I recommend just adding an item name and price and currency)
11) Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Customise advanced features” text
12) Find the checkbox which says “Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout” and tick the box, and enter your URL into the box
13) Save the button and add this to your sales letter or wherever you are selling your product
14) You’re done – your customers should now automatically be taken to your download page after a succesful purchase
$7 Secrets Script (Price $7)

The $7 Secrets ebook package contains a special script which you can use to customize your sales process and automate your digital product delivery. The script integrates with Paypal and is fairly easy to setup. It also gives you the ability to offer 100% comissions to your front end digital products through their basic paypal affiliate system.
If you’d also like to customize the look of your $7 scripts pages, I created a special templates package which works directly with the script – check out http://www.imtemplates.com
DLGuard Digital Download Protection

I have used DLGuard to manage most of my digital products for the last 3 years, and I have found it to be an excellent solution. DLGuard gives you a centralized system you can use to manage all your digital products from.
As well as automating your product delivery, DLGuard does a whole lot more including:
- Secures your downloads by creating unique expiring download links which you can set time and download limits
- Gives you sales and conversion stats for all your products
- Allows you to create members areas when you have multiple products to deliver on one page
- Import and export customer details
- Supports a wide range of payment processors including Paypal, Clickbank, Paydotcom, 1shopping cart
For me the main selling point of DLGuard was the security and management features – it makes it very to setup new products and get them ready for sales. You can setup products in 3 easy steps:
1) Upload your product to your website in a secret folder which you create
2) Complete the “Add New Product” form in the DLG admin panel and grab the code for your button
3) Add the button to your sales letter or website and your product is ready for sale
Nanacast

If you’re looking for a professional solution that incorporates full affiliate tracking and management as well as digital product management, the most cost effective solution is nanacast.
I have just recently switched to Nanacast as my management system for my information marketing business. This is a professional solution which provides a management platform for your digital products, as well as allowing you to run your own affiliate program – which was the main reason I made the switch.
Nanacast also has some advanced product delivery features such as creating secure RSS feeds for your products, which is something I will be utilizing in the future – especially useful with the amount of people now accessing your products on mobile platforms.
I hope this gives you a good idea of the solutions available to you, and if you’re just starting out be sure to at least setup Paypal automated delivery so you free up some time to spend on other areas of your business!
