Resources & Tools

Resources & ToolsOn this page you’ll find all the tools and resources you need to get your Information Marketing business up and running. These resources are based on my business choices and what I’ve found works best.

Most of the tools and resources below are very low cost, so you can get started for under $100.

If you’re new to Information Marketing and want to know the blueprint to a successful information business, I recommend following my free video series which will show you everything you need to get started

Register A Domain

Your domain is how people find you online. You need something memorable but also something that is relevant to your business. Focus on relevance first and then if you can find something which also sounds “cool” then that should be a secondary factor.

I use Namecheap to register all my domains – expect to pay around $9 for a .com

Get Hosting For Your Website

You need hosting to put your pages “on the web”. Hosting is basically you paying for space on a server that is constantly connected to the Internet, meaning your pages are available 24/4/365 days a year.

I use Hostgator for all my hosting needs. They offer a great range of awesomely priced packages, and their support is top notch too (you need good support in a host in case you have any problems – which can come around now and again).

Choose Your Blog Theme

I always recommend setting up a blog as part of your online presence for your information marketing business. It’s important to get your blog looking good – this will help with your blog “stick” rate and help keep people interested in your content.

I use WooThemes and ThemeForest to find themes for all my blogs – they both offer a range of choices at different price levels so you’re sure to find something there.

Payment & Affiliate Systems

I use Paypal for most of my business transactions. This will be perfectly fine for when you are starting off, and if you need the extra features like one-click upsells you can switch to a merchant later.

You also need to offer affiliates the chance to promote your products. This will help you leverage your time and boost traffic to your sites if you have a good offer.

For all my affiliate and payment needs, I now use Nanacast. This is a complete business centralization solution, and handles all of my affiliates, manages all my digital products and much more.

If you’re not ready to spend the extra on Nanacast, you can use a solution like E-Junkie or Clickbank. These give you less features and control but will still work well when you’re starting out.

Manage Your Digital Products

It’s important to be able to manage all of your digital products easily, and handle automated delivery of new products as they are purchased, as well as handle refunds and other download requests.

I use Nanacast for managing all of my digital products. This gives me a dashboard which I can use to see all of my products for sale, and also create new product offers, new upsells and downsells and much more.

DLGuard is also a great solution for managing your digital products. This will allow you to deliver secure download links which expire after a set time for extra security, and you can also monitor sales stats within the software.

Squeeze Page Templates

You need to build a list in your business. If you’ve followed my free video course you’ll know you need to setup a squeeze page to give away your “calling card” content.

You need to get your squeeze page looking good to boost conversions and help get more people into your business funnel. I have now created a Wordpress theme which gives you the ability to create stunning squeeze pages, sales letters and more – check out OptimizePress now

Other Resources – Keyword & Market Research

  • Market Samurai – This tools is simply awesome! It can be used to find keywords for blog posts, to research new niches or sub-niches, check backlinks and much more
  • Google Keyword Tool – This free tool is very handy, and if you don’t have Market Samurai this is the next best thing for finding keywords

Other Resources – Outsourcing

  • OnlineJobs.ph – Fantastic place to find outsource workers from the phillipines. You can search over thousands of resumes to find workers with the skills you require
  • ODesk.com – This is my next best place for finding outsource workers. ODesk allows you to post projects either with an hourly rate or for a complete project rate, so it’s much more flexible

This list will be regularly updated as I find new resources and tools that I think are worth recommending, so be sure to check back regularly.
